Have you noticed patches of thinning hair? Are you concerned about hair loss? Hair restorations procedures often require a form of surgery and slow recovery times. At Dermatology and Skin Health, our office is proud to offer SmartGraft® for men and women searching for a solution to hair loss that is minimally invasive and produces natural-looking results.
SmartGraft® is the latest and most advanced method of follicular unit extraction (FUE) that helps to treat men and women who struggle with hair loss or thinning hair. This method harvests grafts more efficiently, safely, and quickly compared to other methods.
The SmartGraft® uses state-of-the-art technology rather than a scalpel to isolate one to five hair follicles together before harvesting. These micro-grafts are automatically separated, harvested, and then stored in environmentally sound containers that are temperature controlled in a solution. This process increases the change of graft survival for implantation and improves their ability to regrow successfully. The micro-grafts are implanted along the designed hairline and targeted treatment area for a natural full appearance.
SmartGraft® is suitable for any patients who are in good health and notice hair loss or thinning. Patients who struggle with male pattern baldness, female pattern hair loss, and alopecia areata or wish to hide scars from previous hair restoration treatments can also benefit from SmartGraft®.
At Dermatology & Skin Health, we offer world-class services done by award-winning doctors who have proven their knowledge and skills in this field. Start your journey towards achieving your best skin by contacting us today.
Some hair transplant procedures use follicular unit transplantation, FUT, also known as strip harvesting. This method involves more surgical techniques to remove a strip of skin often from the back of your scalp to be separated into grafts and then implanted.
These hair transplants can leave linear scars and require a longer recovery period.
The benefits of SmartGraft® for hair restoration include:
SmartGraft® is ideal for all hair types for men and women.
This procedure is typically separated into two visits, the first is the consultation and design while the second appointment is the procedure itself.
During your consultation, we will discuss your medical history as well as your hair and scalp health to determine if you may need any pre-treatment care.
The procedure itself is performed in-office and generally lasts five hours, though this will depend on your condition and the area being treated. The doner and implant areas will be prepared and often numbed with a local anesthetic. Typically, the donor areas are shaved short for easier grafts harvesting. The micro-grafts are harvested and stored while the implant site is numbed. Once numb, the micro-wounds are made following the design of the hairline, and the micro-grafts are implanted one by one.
This is performed as an out-patient procedure and we recommend patients arrange for someone to bring them home as the anesthesia will prevent you from driving home safely.
Your doctor will inform you of how to care for your scalp and hair in the weeks after your transplant, this may include recommending certain hair care products and washing methods for optimal results. Most patients can resume normal activities and routines within two days.
It can take anywhere from 2-3 months to notice changes as your grafts begin to grow thicker and fuller. At six months, significant improvements can be seen with full results expected to appear 12-14 months after treatment.
