We’ve recently replaced the old Excimer laser here at Dermatology & Skin Health with a state-of-the-art XTRAC Excimer laser, which will help us to more effectively treat psoriasis, eczema and vitiligo. This FDA-cleared laser uses a sophisticated liquid light guide system to deliver a targeted, super-narrow UVB band to affected areas of the body. Treatments are highly effective, safe and painless.* The concentrated light allows the healthcare technician to deliver high doses necessary for rapid therapeutic clearing without the worry of harmful side effects of invasive, systemic agents.*

The XTRAC Excimer laser works by penetrating the patient’s skin and breaking up the cells that form harmful, unwanted plaques.* The treatment is proven to allow long periods of comfort and remission between outbreaks.* The working laser component of the XTRAC concentrates a single band of ultraviolet B (UVB) light ray on the patient’s psoriasis lesions. The ray penetrates the skin and “breaks the DNA of the T cells, which are what have multiplied to create psoriasis plaques.* The 308-nm wavelength is found to be the most effective in clearing psoriasis lesions.*
The benefits of the XTRAC laser are vast, and the results are proven as well as longstanding.* Such benefits include:
Because of XTRAC’s concentrated light source, the XTRAC laser can focus only on the affected, plaque-laden area. As mentioned, this means that it does not affect the surrounding, healthy skin. It’s known to make it much easier to provide a remedy for hard to treat area, such as:
Symptoms are generally reduced within 10-12 treatment sessions.* As with any laser-based procedure, mild to moderate side effects are entirely possible when utilizing XTRAC laser therapy. Potential side effects you may notice around the treated area include:
But don’t let the side effects deter you; XTRAC patients by-and-large have no documented side effects, and the good news? Patients achieve almost a complete clearance with 10 in-office treatments.*
