How We Remove Benign Skin Lesions

We offer numerous treatments for removing these lesions, but the most common methods are cryotherapy and surgical removal. We tailor each method to meet your specific needs, ensuring precision and care.

Cryotherapy, also known as cryosurgery, uses liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy abnormal skin tissue. During the procedure:

  • Your provider applies liquid nitrogen to the lesion, freezing the cells and causing them to die off.
  • The treated tissue will blister, peel, and eventually fall away. This leaves room for healthy new skin cells to regenerate.
  • Cryotherapy is minimally invasive and often requires little to no downtime, making it a popular option for benign skin lesion removal.

If a simple “shave removal” isn’t appropriate, surgical excision is a precise method where a trained dermatologist uses a scalpel to remove the lesion along with a margin of healthy skin. This method is especially effective for larger or deeper growths.

  • Your provider can administer local anesthesia to numb the area.
  • They will carefully and thoroughly excise the skin lesion, closing it with sutures afterwards.
  • This procedure ensures the removal of the skin lesion, reducing the risk of recurrence.
