Collagen Induction Therapy

A woman is getting a facial treatment at a beauty salon.

WHAT IS COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY?

Collagen Induction Therapy uses a combination of microdermabrasion followed by the application of growth factors. Growth factors are derived from a serum portion of the blood that contains platelets. When platelets are applied to the skin, they can stimulate cell turnover.* Treatments use your own blood to help promote the healthy activity of your skin cells, giving you healthier-looking skin.*

WHY ARE PLATELETS USED?

Platelets are rich in growth factors and act as energy boosts for our skin. This helps the skin function optimally and increases collagen and elastin production, while also adding antioxidant and hydrating properties. Growth factors are commonly used as part of microneedling and facials and is even injected into the skin similarly to dermal fillers.

HOW DOES COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY WORK?

Treatments begin with venipuncture to obtain your blood. This portion of the treatment is relatively painless and you’ll only feel a pinch from the needle. After your blood is drawn, it is run through our centrifuge to isolate the platelets. You will then receive microneedling or microdermabrasion before your platelets are spread across your face. This may or may not include radiofrequency. These are all advanced skin care techniques that can improve the quality of your skin.* Downtime is minimal and the recovery process only lasts a few days. After the treatment, your skin will look a bit red, almost as if it is sunburnt. This redness will fade after a while and it is extremely important that you wear sunscreen when you step outside. Wearing makeup is discouraged during your recovery time.
